Features

Bella Gold® is primarily grown for its edible fruit. The medium-sized fruits ripen from late June into early July and feature slightly fuzzy, bright yellow skin accented by a red blush. Beneath the tart skin is mildly sweet, amber-colored flesh that creates a balanced and enjoyable eating experience. The tree’s naturally semi-dwarf habit makes it well suited for smaller spaces. Foliage remains green throughout the growing season, and spring flowers provide seasonal interest.

Planting & Growing

Bella Gold® will grow to be about 12 to 15 feet tall at maturity, with a similar spread. It has a low canopy with a typical clearance of 3 feet from the ground and should not be planted underneath power lines. It grows at a moderate rate and is easy to manage with light annual pruning.

This tree does best in full sun and prefers well-drained soil. Regular watering is important during establishment and fruit development, though soil should not remain consistently wet. Bella Gold® requires approximately 500 chilling hours and performs best in USDA Zones 5–9. This variety is not self-fruitful and requires cross-pollination from Blenheim Apricot, Gold Kist Apricot, or Flavor Grenade Pluot® for optimal fruit production. It is not native to North America.
