For flourishing plants, use potting soil for potted plants or planting mix for garden beds paired with Root Zone starter fertilizer is the perfect duo to foster robust root growth and minimize transplant shock.

Details

The Christmas Cactus is a multi-stemmed holiday houseplant with a spreading habit of growth.

This is a relatively easy care plant that prefers bright light. Keep away from sources of heat and cold drafts. It prefers the soil to be allowed to get slightly dry in between waterings. Give it a rest period in the fall by reducing the waterinand no fertilizer until the flower buds start to emerge, then resume regular waterings.

Christmas Cactus is recommended for the following uses:
  • Accent
  • Container Planting
Features

The Christmas Catus features brightly colored tubular flowers at the ends of the branches from late fall to early winter. It has attractive green foliage when not in bloom.

The Christmas Catus is bestsuited for use in pots and containers. With its spreading habit of growth, it is best suited for use as a 'filler' in the 'spiller-thriller-filler' container combination; plant it near the edge of the pot, surrounded by smaller plants and those that spill over the edges. Also note that when growing plants in outdoor containers and baskets, they may require more frequent waterings than they would in the yard or garden.
