Care

Planting & Growing

Plumeria 'Purple Shell' will grow to be about 12 to 15 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 10 to 15 feet. It has an upright, open habit with a typical clearance of 2 to 3 feet from the ground and is suitable for planting under power lines. It grows at a medium rate and can live for many years under ideal conditions.

Grow in full sun for best flowering. Provide well-drained soil and avoid consistently wet conditions. Water regularly to establish, then allow soil to dry slightly between waterings; once established it is drought-tolerant. Some tolerance to salt and urban conditions. Sap may be irritating and toxic if ingested; use care around children and pets. Propagates readily from cuttings.

Excellent in containers for patios; container plants often need more frequent watering and benefit from a fast-draining potting mix.
