Features

Plumeria 'Volcan' produces showy clusters of fragrant flowers in bold red to red-orange tones at the ends of the branches from late spring through summer. Deep green foliage provides strong contrast throughout the season. Leaves do not develop significant fall color. The fruit is not ornamentally significant.

Planting & Growing

Plumeria 'Volcan' will grow to be about 12 to 15 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 10 to 15 feet. It has an upright, open habit with a typical clearance of 2 to 3 feet and is suitable for planting under power lines. Growth is moderate and it can live for many years in ideal conditions.

Full sun is best for flowering. Use well-drained soil and avoid consistently wet conditions. Water to establish, then reduce; drought-tolerant once established. Some tolerance to salt and urban pollution. Sap may irritate skin and is toxic if ingested; use care around children and pets. Propagate by cuttings.

Works well as a patio container specimen; containers usually require more frequent watering and a fast-draining mix.
