Application Guide
For Potting Mixes: Thoroughly blend horticultural sand with an appropriate potting soil or growing medium before planting. Adjust the amount used according to the drainage requirements of the plant.
For Houseplants: Incorporate horticultural sand evenly into potting soil when planting or repotting plants that benefit from improved drainage.
For Succulents and Cacti: Blend with an appropriate cactus or succulent potting mix to create a more free-draining growing environment. Avoid using horticultural sand by itself as the primary growing medium.
For Containers: Mix thoroughly with the selected potting medium before filling the container. Always use a container with adequate drainage holes to allow excess water to escape.
Watering: Water according to the individual needs of the plant. Because horticultural sand can improve drainage, watering frequency may need to be adjusted based on the plant, container, and growing conditions.
Helpful Tip: Horticultural sand is particularly useful when modifying potting mixes for plants that are sensitive to consistently wet soil. Thoroughly incorporate it throughout the mix rather than applying it only as a surface layer.
