Favorite garden style...

My favorite garden style would be Mediterranean.  San Diego is considered a Mediterranean climate, and with the prominent Spanish style homes in San Diego, this combination blends extremely well.

Favorite shade plant...

My favorite go-to shade plants are Hydrangeas and Lamium maculatum.  As for the Hydrangeas, I tend to lean towards the Seaside Serenade varieties as I believe these have the best color options and are a smaller size, perfect for the smaller yards I find in North, coastal San Diego County.  For the Lamium, I like the Anne Greenaway variety best.  This is a very vibrant color groundcover that tends to light up a shady location.
