Application Guide
For Repotting Orchids: Carefully remove the orchid from its existing container and gently remove old or deteriorated growing media from around the roots. Inspect the root system and remove dead or damaged roots as appropriate.
Planting: Choose a container with adequate drainage and position the orchid at the appropriate height. Gently fill around the roots with Orchid Mix, working the material into open spaces without tightly compacting it. Maintaining air space within the mix is important for orchid roots.
Watering: Water thoroughly after planting and allow excess water to drain freely. Do not allow the container to remain continuously waterlogged. Future watering frequency will depend on the orchid variety, container, temperature, humidity, and growing environment.
Repotting: Orchid growing media naturally breaks down and compacts over time. Repot orchids when the mix begins to deteriorate, drainage becomes reduced, or the plant has outgrown its existing container.
Helpful Tip: Orchids generally require more airflow around their roots than traditional houseplants. Avoid substituting standard indoor potting soil for a coarse orchid-specific growing medium unless appropriate for the particular orchid variety.
